The short version
Some links on Windowsill Gardener are affiliate links. If you buy through them, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we’d put in our own apartments.
Amazon Associates
Windowsill Gardener is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
This means: when you click an Amazon link on our site and buy something — anything, not just the product we linked — Amazon may pay us a small percentage of that sale. Your price is identical whether you click our link or go to Amazon directly. We never see your name, address, payment details, or any other personal information from your Amazon account.
Other affiliate programs
From time to time we may participate in other affiliate or referral programs from companies whose products we use and recommend — for example houseplant retailers, gardening-tool brands, or seed companies. Any such relationship is disclosed in the post where the link appears.
How recommendations are chosen
We pick products based on three things, in this order:
- Does it actually do what the post claims? If we wouldn’t use it ourselves, we don’t recommend it.
- Does it solve the specific scenario in the guide? A grow light for a single desk plant is different from one for a 6-plant shelf. Our “best” picks are always matched to a scenario, not generic.
- Is the price honest? We will not recommend a product purely because it pays a higher commission. Where two products are close, we usually pick the cheaper one.
No brand, advertiser, or affiliate program has ever paid us for a favourable review and they never will.
